The base layer is on!

We have started to put the first coat of the base layer on. People on the community payback scheme have done a great job so far. We hope to complete the base coat by the end of tomorrow, weather permitting.

Ready For Lift-Off

As you can see, we picked up the materiels for the base coat last week...

The good people from Dulux were very generous with their time and products, but sadly, we were caught sneaking out with the dog ;-)

Probation Signed Up...

We have pencilled in 7th 8th and 9th May for probation/community payback to apply our base layer. I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting this Thursday.

Meeting 2nd March

Thank you to all those who attended especially Shaun from Dulux. Our resident artist has now got most of the designs and is in the process of coupling them all together. The application of paint is to happen from May to June and we hope to get community payback to apply the base colour. More news to come👍

Many designs but one piece of art.

We have spoken to many of the schools and institutions and I am pleased that so many have their designs ready.  Some have even held  poster design competitions.

The problem that was discussed is achieving continuity through each design across the wall.  Fortunately we have some artists among us to cast an eye over the designs and make some important decisions on what will work and what will not.

Roll on 2nd March.  In the meantime we are having a" before" photo shoot  this friday (23rd Feb) at the wall so that we can send it on to Dulux.  After the 2nd March when we have decided on colours I will pick the paints and materials up from Dulux.

Here's some inspiration...

Photo Shoot - HELLLP!

The guys from Dulux have asked us to provide a "before" photo shoot at the Wall. Trouble is, there's a very tight timeframe ... Now for the big ask...

PLEASE come along to the Wall at 11am on Friday 24th February and bring as many people with you as you can.

I know, it's tomorrow and short notice, but it's important to show Dulux that we mean business.

See you there (waves frantically).

Dulux Come On Board

The good people at Dulux Paints have kindly agreed to support the mural project - Thanks Dulux.

Encouraged by response.

Since the meeting on the 27th January, I am heartened to see so many community members willing to get involve.  This will be a superb opportunity to beautify a particular area of Northampton and produce a focal point for the residents.

We have set a date for designs to be submitted which will be early March.  In the meantime I have been in contact with Dulux as was suggested to organise some Paint.  We have provisionally priced the graffitti paint and were surprised as we expected to be paying a lot more.  Further details to come...

The minutes of the first meeting have been circulated and there are some action points for everyone.

I will keep you updated.

A Blank Canvass

How could anyone pass up the opportunity to turn this boring wall into a work of art that shouts a message about the people of St Davids?

The answer of course, is...  No-one!

So, a group of people representing a wide variety of community groups and interests held a meeting on 27th January 2012 to see how they could make it happen.

It soon became apparent that there's no shortage of skills, talent and determination available... So it's going to happen.

Are you willing to help us?

If you live or work in St Davids and want to get involved, let us know.

Meanwhile, we'll keep you up to date with what's hot and what's not as the project develops....
